ROC Post Hand Operated Siren - Equipment Information
Here is some info on the sirens that the ROC Posts were equipped with.
"All posts were equipmed with a hand cranked Secomak 447 Air Raid Siren. There was different tones for different warnings. The tone of the siren could be changed by twisting a clamp on the top of the handle and from winding the siren at a different speed. The siren was stored in a crate in the post and when not in use could fold down smaller.
Here it is packed down.

They really do produce a great sound!
Re: ROC Post Hand Operated Siren - Equipment Information
It was standard practice to place the Siren on its side on the surface and simply remove the crank handle which was then brought below ground, during an attack or fallout warning the handle was brought to the surface and reattached.
You need a good primer and a tin of Plasti-kote Medium Grey for the stand, its a perfect match to the original paint.

I'm reluctant to do anything to my sirens as i have more than one and they have got mixed up - one of them doesnt belong to me and i cant remember which one. Dohhhh
