Crowle ROC post Worcestershire January 2012
Opened: June 1960
Closed: October 1968
Visited with Tankman and this was the 3rd post of the day if my memory serves well. It was im afraid a total failure and this is a from the road job, the post was in a field full of evil looking sheep and the only gate into the field has recently been re done and barbed wire which looked fresh so we didn't bother. Lots of hunters were around as well so access wasn't really possible today, but from looking at my picture the post has been locked anyway as a chain has been re attached from the ajar hatch to the GZI mount. Post looks good though and is although full of 'retro' graffiti still got bunks and a splint and a good looking brick aircraft post. Clearly the farmer doesn't want people going in now!

How many posts are there in the u.k? In total who got the job to build em all?
Re: Crowle ROC post Worcestershire January 2012
Between 1958 and 1964 they built 1563. In 1968, after a major re-organisation, i think it was 738 of them closed down.
They were all built by local builders using local materials, which is why some of them are built backwards or, the step is in the wrong place, or the ladders etc etc

Yeh with teeth as sharp as razor blades. When the sun goes down these little buggers become vampire sheep.
