'The former Parrs bank building was designed by Charles Heathcote in 1902, is a superb example of Edwardian baroque with some increasingly fashionable art

nouveau detailing, particularly in the wrought ironwork. Now a winebar-café known as the Athenaeum, it is in red sandstone with an imposing corner

entrance topped with a dome. Probably one of Manchester's most opulent banking halls, with deep mahogany woodwork, green ceramic and marble walls, rich

ceiling plasterwork, stained glass windows and elegant Ionic columns'.

It was getting late and we decided to hit up another rooftop before calling it a night....Yeah right!

This was supposed to be a quickie, in the end turned out to be nearly 2 hours of dicking around, and we ended up on yet another rooftop.

I had looked down on this place a couple of weeks ago from the rooftop of the HSBC, and admired it's beauty, especially the dome topped corner entrance.

Fast forward 2 weeks and we were up on the roof of this one, avoiding pidgeon wire and climbing dodgy scaffold along the way.

Gone - "It's all about the people shots".... Oi Oi...

But was a struggle for me as was now the 5th hit of the evening with no tripod FFS, so I managed a couple of shots, so shouts to Gone, Jimmy & Millhouse for capturing what turned out to be one of the best 'splores of the evening.

I am so poor at heights. I am concerned that these legs, which have served me very well over the last 38 years, would suddenly bend at the knees, lower my body about a foot, and then with no warning, would suddenly launch me forward and into the air.

Im with you on the legs..great stuff there guys..but as boxfrenzy says in high situations clifftops normally for me me head tells my legs to stay clear of the "edge"but my legs do seem to have other ideas..!

Nicely done, you got some crisp shots despite the tripod issue…

At the risk of being laughed at for being a geek … the three chimney pots on the left hand chimney are called "Champions". They cost a fortune if you have to buy new to do a restoration, as they're made by hand (I think they were made at the Knowles pottery in Elland that was posted a couple of weeks back).
