Arrow American Adventure, Ilkeston [October 2010]

    American Adventure, Ilkeston [12/10/2010]

    History:

The themepark opened in 1987 and was funded by Granada Media, with the inclusion of some none themed rollercoasters.

Soon after 1997 American Adventure was sold to Ventureworld headed by former Alton Towers developer John Broome, this did not last long as the park was then sold to THG Group.

Around the year 2005/06 the themepark started selling its previous rides to other themeparks and staff cuts continued until the park was no longer able to run and was closed at the end of 2006.

So yeah I decided to get this off my chest and get this done while there was anything left... I was annoyed to find most the park is gone and the only thing standing is the Pier 49.

Loved the look of these stairs, weird that these still here.

I found it fun following the old track bed, well the stones at least and the markings.

Snake Island, its gone to hell... There's no bridge over to it anymore.

A view of Pier 49 and the park that is becoming more nature reserve the longer it decays.

So yeah a Heron, I really wanted to get close to this guy but he kept flying off.

    On your marks!

The remains of the turn-table for the river-rapids ride, I was so hoping the ride was still there! Oh well.

    Log-Flume Remains - Water pit?

Time to go! I saw a security guard walking around the lake so I decided to get out of there!
