Arrow Lydden WW2 Anti-Aircraft Shell Stores. Oct 2010

These shell stores are situated just ouside the village of Lydden, a few miles from Dover. They sit in a huge natural hollow by the side of Lydden Hill, they are half buried at the rear, and are surrounded by very thick blast walls. The fronts are also protected by tons of earth held in place by smaller blast walls. Each bunker has 20 small magazines in two rows of ten.

They were built during WW2 to hold ammunition for Dover's many Anti-Aircraft guns.
After the war and up to the end of the 90s they were used by the army for training purposes. The Air-Raid tunnel that once stood near by has been filled and no sign of it remains. The first pic is from Google Earth.

The front of no.1 bunker. The huge earth pile has eroded away over the years.

    The half buried rear.

All three are identical so here's some random pics from inside them.

The front of no.2 bunker and blast wall.

Me on the blast wall of no.3.
