Royal Oak Brewery, Stockport
Parts of The former Royal Oak Brewery is currently being demolished.The brewery is to be converted into flats. In latter years it was part of the Whitbread empire. Ann Coffey MP (Labour Party)added The project will bring new homes to the town centre, with fifty-one flats planned as a result of renovating the old brewery. All the flats will be sold through shared ownership.

The demolition work on the Royal Oak site is almost complete, and the architect has designed the accommodation to keep some of the historic character of the old building. Completion is scheduled for Spring 2009. STOP Spring 2009 came and went still there has been no more work done on this old brewery maybe because of a lack of funds.

Looks great, Stockport is a good place for a mooch around. The conversion work probably stopped due to the fact flats aren't selling (if the developer was sensible he would have organised the funds before he started and just drawn them down as required) …
