I've struggled to find much in the way of history on this place. It was grade II listed in 1963 and the listing text on the British Listed Buildings website states:
'A 4-storey stone-built corn mill, said to have been a mill site in Norman days. Brick upper portion and a new slate roof. At the lowest stage is an arched stone fireplace with inscriptions including a date 1602. Waterwheel and machinery still used.'
The waterwheel and machinery is no longer used as the mill has been converted into a holiday cottage. It's in an idyllic location on the banks of the River Dee and for the past 6 or 7 years me and me mates have retreated here at the start of December. I am guessing that it was converted in the late 80s judging by the decor and nothing has changed since. There have been many raves in this place, there's evidence on youtube. A band called 'The Lucid Dream' released the Erbistock Mill EP. I haven't listened to any of it, I bet it's shit.
Despite the terrible interior design and the parties there is still plenty of evidence of the mill's past. This year I decided to take some pictures to share with you so braved the -9 temperatures and the pain of my hangover to take these:
