Visited Pool Park with Sloth,Nicola1981,The Stig and Nickweb after a crazy morning at Denbigh Asylum which was total failure as a loony with a rifle and Beardy decided to play chase with us. After a short walk through some muddy fields,being chased by cows and attacked by barbed wire,we arrived at pool park.This place is stunning everything seems to be original,huge oak fireplaces,oak panelling,even the toilet....hey nicola

Heres a bit of history

Pool Park was once the home of the Salusbury family, one of whom was William Salusbury of Bachymbyd and passed to Sir Walter Bagot thro marriage. It was rebuilt in the Elizabethan style by the Bagot family in 1828 and is situated off the Clawddnewydd Rd out of Ruthin. 100 yrs later the 17,500 acres was split up and put up for sale.An interesting pillar of stonework was erected on nearby Pincyn Llys to commemorate the planting of vast areas of woodland by the 2nd Lord Bagot.
The Bagot family was well known in the area and was responsible for the funding of alms houses in the area among other projects.

Pool Park Hospital closed 20 years ago this year, since when it's largely been in the ownership of Roberts's Homes, the builder and landlord responsible for a large number of the wider area's flats and care homes. Expensive changes to comply with planning's wishes, by modifying the driveway where it meets the B5105 Cerrigydrudion road, did not result in the expected planning permissions, some years ago.
