Default CEAG Lighting / Lumax - Barnsley, May 2011.

Visited this Barnsley lighting factory with Muttley on our blustery S. Yorks / Notts whistlestop greasy cowboy tour.

Fairly shagged internally, mainly around the un-interesting compartmented offices on the lower floors. It still holds some of that industrial charm and one or two little remnants of the lightbulb manufacture that took place here.

Bit of history regarding what CEAG produced:

CEAG Lighting is a long established UK manufacturer of special railway signal lamps and a wide range of incandescent lamps.

CEAG Lighting manufactures and distributes special purpose lighting for use on land, sea and air. Products are marked under the registered trade name "LUMAX".

CEAG Lighting's first incandescent lamps were made for its miners safety lamps in 1922. Since that time Ceag Lighting has specialised its manufacturing processes to meet the precise tolerances required by safety critical products ;-

    • Railway signal lamps
    • Train lamps
    • Long life lamps
    • Marine lamps
    • Low voltage incandescent lamps
    • Ministry of Defence N.A.T.O. lamps
    • Long life lamps up to 8,000 hour
    Some photos:

There were thousands upon thousands of these little glass bulbs around making it slightly crunchy underfoot.

    Thanks for taking a look.

Is this next to the railway line?? If so, I spotted it when the train stopped at Barnsley en route to Sheffers. Also spotted an access point too

Some cool stuff to see despite the rather shagged state

Yep, right slap bang next to the railway, it's a bit shagged but only the boring bits.
