Default The Pan Am Flight 103 Boeing 747 resting place. June 2011.

I realise this may cause offence to some people and apologies for this, but I feel it needs documenting. Resting in a scrap yard in Lincolnshire is one of the worlds most iconic planes.
I won't repeat the history, but to say this was a very eerie location. Pics-

    I won't repeat the history
Why not? Without the history, this is just some bits of twisted metal in a skip.

Let me Google that for you
10/10 for smart-assery, but I do know all about it. It's just that there might be some people who don't, especially given that this hasn't appeared on here before. If we're expecting everyone viewing a report to search Google for some history and context, maybe we can go ever further, save ourselves less bother, and get them to search Google for images too?

Bob, I'm one of your biggest fans, so I wasn't having a go - it just amused me that you actually took time and effort to tell us you weren't going to tell us the history. It would have actually involved less wear and tear on your keyboard and fingers to have written 'The 1988 Lockerbie bombing' instead.

Anyway, thanks for the photos, it seems weird and undignified to have the remains just piled up and left outside like that.

Agreed with LJ. theres no respect just leaving it how it is.

i feel smug now... but i do see his reasons for not putting too much in there, theres a good chance it will hit a sore spot for someone on here somewhere

    Abit of info for everyone!

Pan Am Flight 103 was Pan American World Airways' third daily scheduled transatlantic flight from London Heathrow Airport to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport. On Wednesday 21 December 1988, the aircraft flying this route—a Boeing 747–121 named Clipper Maid of the Seas—was destroyed by a bomb, killing all 243 passengers and 16 crew members.[1] Eleven people in Lockerbie, in southern Scotland, were also killed as large sections of the plane fell in the town and destroyed several houses, bringing total fatalities to 270. As a result, the event has been named by the media as the Lockerbie bombing.

    Happy guys
