Lillesden Estate Mansion,
Hawkhurst Kent

Went out in Kent with Tstarnger
and This was our first of the day

Was built in 1853 completed 1855 of Gothic architecture





It was use for a short time the treatment of casualtys of the great war.
After which it was then sold and eventually became the Lillesden School
In 1976 and became the Lower Bedgebury School.
Which closed in 1999.





planning permission has been approved to convert the main grade two listed building.
Date Received: 10 July 2007
Proposal: Change of use and alterations to Lillesden House to 14 residential apartments with new residential development of 15 apartments and 11 houses, associated car parking and access;with demolition of former ancillary school buildings.



But due to water damage resulting from theft of the the lead from the roof
costs have soared and placed the development on hold for now.
A true picture of the place now is the all the upper floors are rotten to the core and the place pretty well trashed with a liberal covering of graffiti

What a crazy place. I don't normally have much good to say about graffiti, but the hanged Mickey Mouse is fantastic.

It took me a while to work out what I was seeing - I thought at first there was some clever Felice Varini-type anamorphic graffiti going on, but eventually realised that there's a mirror at the top of the stairs!

By the way, there's something about all your photos that makes me feel incredibly claustrophobic, and I can't put my finger on what it is. I can't even work out whether it's a good thing or a bad thing, so it's not even meant as criticism - I just wanted to let you know.
