Arrow Chard ROC post – Somerset Group – Sept 2011

Thought I’d have a nose at this master post as I was house sitting nearby. It’s a mess inside, black, dank and smelly. The orange staining is from a smoke grenade. The chav damage is obvious and what is still in there is beyond repair. The hatch mechanism is damaged ie bent and cannot be closed although the post is dry. The site is heavily overgrown.

The good news is the Orilt B is still there and reasonably unmolested.

So there you go, it’s hanging in there…….just! Don't worry, the nausea will pass.

more like a 'Fetid pit of disrepair' I'd say, still it puts another one on the map at least. I'll never understand the mentality of people who do this............................. must have been taken off the tit too early or something.

Wierd - looks like a 68 closure but it has a battleship padlock on which is highly uncommon for a 68 - do you know what it was?

As far as I am aware it was a '91 closure. What makes you say it looks like a '68?

Ah right. I know it's been set alight at least twice. When you consider that in the 80's Chard had the 2nd highest crime rate per head of population (Glasgow was 1st) in the entire UK, I suppose we shouldn't really expect anything to survive. Tough place to grow up I can tell you.

That aint a pretty post, suppose when the canister went off it would have been a pretty amazing sight in such a small enclosed space!

Still Orlit is in fairly good condition, suppose it was kept so good and maintained due to them needing it after the aircraft plotting for the GZI.
