Helmsley ROC Post - (Yorkshire Group) - December 2011

1968 Closure. Visited with Triplesix.

Status: Open.

This post had previously been capped with concrete, and for a reason. This is now not the case and there is a very small hole in the top just small enough for someone to squeeze through. There has been a long extension to the sump pipe fitted - so that water can be drained far away from the post. This is now inside the hatch and protruding from the hole. The surfacr features were still intact somewhere in the overgrowth. Internally - the post is flooded to about 8" with black minging water. Not a nice post. Possibly one of the worst i've visited. The ladders felt really unsafe too.

There was some graffiti from the 1980s so i reckon thats about the time it was sealed up.

That is bloody horrible, looks from the wall it may have been higher in the past? And they even capped the vent, so whoever did it made a good solid job!
