Default Pilkington Glass - Doncaster - Feb 2012

Had a look round this place with 02E, SammyDoubleWhammy and Clough. Cheers JST for giving us the heads up on this place.

    Pilkington Glass, Doncaster site.

'Pilkington plc originated in 1826 as the St. Helens Crown Glass Company, founded with the technical knowledge and ability of John William Bell and capital from three of the most influential local families, the Bromilows, the Greenalls and the Pilkingtons. William Pilkington was one of the original shareholders, and he was later joined by his elder brother Richard.'

More info and extensive history on Pilkingtons can be found HERE

Basically, due to massive modernisation in the glass industry, this place lowered it's capacity massively over the course of about 20 years, finally ceasing production in 2008.

It's a really big site, way better than I expected and with plenty of stuff still remaining to take lovely photos of.

    A few of my pictures:

Turns out legally I had to pay fowle every time his name was used due to copyright issues and so forth was costing me a bomb so I lost weight
