While spending time at a lovely hotel called Villa Vanille on the edge of Marrakesh , we saw an abandoned building that we had heard from our taxi driver was a hotel at some point. Intrigued, we decided that it was worth going in. Here are some pictures from the first time we went.

The second time we went, to try and get more pictures, we found a program, telling of an event that would take place at the 'hotel.' We can't speak French, but it was easy enough to read what was on the front - "L'Oasisi De Marrakech - Spectacle Sons et Lumieres." A light and sound festival. We weren't that surprised to find out it wasn't a hotel, as we hadn't seen any bed rooms and the majority of the ground floor was made up of kitchens and restaurants.

Multiple massive kitchens and the lack of hotel rooms lead us to believe that we weren't in a hotel. As we were wandering around this kitchen we were found by a man holding a stick. We couldn't understand a word he was saying, but we followed him around. At first we thought he was leading us to the exit, but we soon realised he was giving us a tour around the building.

Our new 'guide' led us to this archway completely covered in geodes. We could just imagine what it would have looked like back when it was in operation.

Looking out across the main pool from where the audience would have watched the show. Underneath this building was a complex maze of underground tunnels, probably used to get performers from one place to the other.
