Westwood Mine Cold War Chemical Testing Pics & PDF

Sooooo, I have spent the last couple of days buried in files in the National Archives in London.

Originally I went down to research a local company I plan on doing a case study on which will include my exploring pictures and other information I have gathered over the years. This small task then turned into a mammoth amount of files and reading. It is quite amazing to see the back and forth chat between a company and the secretary of state especially when the company gets pissed off with the attitude of the government lol.

The internet will never be as fun as opening a 'Top Secret' document

Anyway, after 1 whole day in the archives I rebooked my train tickets and went down the next day to finish off my research and to see what else is on offer.

Then I found the 'Westwood Trials' folder, documenting the chemical trials that went on in the mine during the Cold War. Something different and interesting.

I photographed the whole of the document and have now uploaded it so you can all see it for free and not have to go to the lengths I did to see it (although I would totally recommend going to the National Archives!!).

Looks an interesting Cold war document there! I have a document that goes one better, about Chemical testing on the London Underground. It was carried out on an unsuspecting public, back in 1964 by Porton Down. The file includes detailed maps and photos etc.
