Default The Farmer's Manor, Berkshire, September 2012

    Visited with Zotez.

Where do I start? To say the very least, this has been one of the most magnificent, ethereal, amazing explores I have ever done. And whilst not quite as lavishly detailed as other sites I've been to, the amount of amazing things left behind and the level of decay are beyond anything I have ever seen. Also, it's not necessarily in the middle of nowhere but there is absolutely no form of vandalism whatsoever. Getting in was easier than expected; the bull was more bothered about grazing than charging us for the whole time. On the other hand, we had to be very patient because of the wood yard next door and having to wait for the workers to go on break before we could make our entry. Eventually they did, so we clambered in, to be greeted by some severe decay; rotten floors, caved-in roofs, dry rot and the rest of it. Surprising, given that the exterior gives absolutely no indication for just how badly this place has been affected.

    And a few portrait shots

On a final note, it would be interesting to know whether this place is actually listed or not, given its completely unmodernized state and nice features. Somehow I doubt it, sadly. Also, it was disappointing but the vast majority of the upper floors were inaccessible due to both staircases collapsing! I made an attempt to climb the ladder left behind in the hallway but it was wooden and I ran the risk of breaking it. Who knows what lies above?

    With love,

    TBM x

Amazing all that stuff left behind. Looks rather posh in its day for a farmers house! Good stuff

What a place, you can tell that it was incredibly grand in its heyday. Is took one hell of a battering from the elements though.

What a stunning place I want to go here..
I wonder who died first the owner or the poor bird in the cage?
Thanks for sharing a great report!
