Default Just Like Chernobyl - October 2012

I must first apologise for the volume of pictures in this post, I'll try keep the picture count down but some places just had too much to see - also some of the places I've just forgotten which they were as they have such riveting names as 'Middle School 2', 'Kindergarten 3' and 'Derpingtonlollertron 3'.

    Chernobyl + Pripyat

I'll first tell you a little about the trip, feel free to skip this text, I never read what people type anyway so I won't be offended.

A group of us went to Chernobyl on a trip kindly organised by Ric (Carbonangel) on the 28DL forum, I didn't really have much brass but decided that I'd have a pop anyway - It cost me about £750 in total for everything and was worth every penny. The food was absolutely insane but real nice, I can't really tell you what we ate as I'm not sure, I just put whatever was on the plate, in my face. One day I had a fish omelette. I thought it was chicken.

We spent about 2 and a half days in the zone, a bit of a fuck about with the Ukrainian police after a couple of people decided they weren't gonna stick to the rules and they fucked off - Very nearly messed the trip up but thanks to our smooth talking guides Pawel and Conrad we were back out and about the next afternoon.

The zone is just mad, when you get there you're totally and utterly bewildered by the scale of it, it really is an abandoned city, it's almost like a jungle now too, natures really taking it back. I had a real good trip - I'll show you my favorite bits below and hopefully it'll give you an idea of whats there. I'd recommend going in the next couple of years, do your research and make sure you go with someone who's alright with you going in buildings as some guides just won't have it!

Geiger counter reads about 12.35 uVa here, 0.02 is usual background radiation. You're not allowed to put anything on the ground, including tripods. I had a lie down. Was lol.

    Pripyat

    Cultural Palace

    Hotel Pripyat

    Hospital (Main Block)

    (JST ALERT LOLOLOL)

    Janov Train Derp

    Middle School

    Kindergarten

    To be continued..
