Default Acre Mill - Huddersfield - March 13

Very short and sweet with this one, something new and local but worth posting for the local people.
Formerly owned by Joseph Sykes & Sons and now owned by the NHS

Info taken from the Huddersfield Examiner.

SEVERAL services are to be moved out of Huddersfield Royal Infirmary to free up space for more beds inside the hospital. Most of the outpatient services will be moving to nearby Acre Mill along with antenatal services and back room offices. The concern is the hospital will run short of beds as the ageing population rises and hospital bosses say the move would mean they could run a more “efficient and effective” service.plans were revealed at a Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust board meeting yesterday. The Z block at Acre Mills opposite the hospital will be redesigned to integrate primary and secondary care, community and social care into more of a one-stop service.Director of service development at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust Lesley Hill said: “This plan will require quite a significant re-design but we want patient experience to improve and staff satisfaction to improve.“The aim is to free up space on the main HRI side.“There has got to be a certain amount of space between beds now so with the help of Z block we will have enough beds to carry on in the future.“Our elderly population is rising significantly and the majority of our patients are over 75 so to meet the needs of our local population we are going to need the beds we have got and more.“We need to look after those people and that is the reason for doing this.”The hospital is required to provide additional bed capacity to replace those lost through updating the wards.

Currently under conversion nothing much to see in terms of features but if you like open mill spaces then you'll like this.
