We have visited this house a few times over the years and it is now going downhill fast. This last winter has really taken it's toll with a lot of the roof now collapsed. Not much history on the house other that it will remain untouched until the quarry work nearby has been completed (date unknown). There is a tower which sits on the hill above the house. In 1795 Durris was let on a long lease to John Innes of Leuchars, near Elgin. He carried out extensive improvements to the estate but when, in 1824, Durris passed to the Gordons, Innes - after a lengthy and expensive lawsuit - was ejected and virtually ruined. To celebrate their victory over Innes, the Gordons built an octagonal tower, which now overlooks Park Bridge.
As a side note, it was a previous post about this house that made me leave 28DaysLater - I received a ton of abuse (including from moderators) that it was a waste of a report and that I shouldn't bother with this !!!!
