    Arrow J Marr and Son - Hull - 13/01/09

After our trip to Lord Line last week, we realised that there must be a way to get next door to J Marr's. Agent MagooČ duly worked it out and took me and Scary Mary back for a look around today.

I haven't managed to find out an awful lot about what went on here; earlier rumours suggested that the company closed with the collapse of the fishing industry in the 80s but calendars on the wall were dated 2006.

The place is in an odd state, on one hand it is generally water-tight and the carpets appear quite new in some rooms but there has been a lot of pikey activity, some of it in the last few days.

I couldn't find any old photos of the building but found this one taken from either J Marr's or Lord Line showing the dock in use.

    The offices...

Sorry, couldn't resist an arty one

Nice one Muse. Shame it didn't work out for J Marr. At least he's got The Smiths royalties to live on. Last time I was in Hull I looked at this. Access was obvious except for some pesky fishermen who were right outside the place. Looks like there is still some nice features - I like the fireplaces. Seems like you guys have been busy.

Are the blueprints and wall charts still inside there? If they are no longer there I will be a very sad explorer :-(

    Nice stuff there Muse
The only thing to do with good advice is pass it on. It is never any use to oneself.
