Hurstpierpoint Auxiliary unit Lookout, Sussex, July 2010
This is the lookout which was connected to the main hideout (collapsed) via a telephone wire. It was just big enough for one man to fit inside and relay enemy movements to the operational base.
I was well chuffed to find this as the lookouts are harder to find than the hideouts

Here are a few pill boxes located in the Essex area.
First up is the mother of all pill boxes it`s a twin, the only one in the UK as far as I know.
Then on to Bradwell Bay along the coast, these pill boxes pass right through the earthen sea defences.
Inside the Turnbull mount is still inplace.

The air vent thing must be common to the Essex pill boxes, just south of Bradwell Bay there is another box in
the middle of a field which also has a vent. The picture below was taken on the way home I think its at lachingdon.
