I found this today and was really gutted. Some freak in the East Yorkshire Council has ordered it to be filled with concrete...numpties

Travelling around the "Fens" today with BK on some explorations! Came across these two lovely Pillboxes one protecting a bridge and the other open, flat ground (of which there is enough around these parts). Both are the ubiquous Type FW3/28, "2 pounder anti-tank" pillbox. Apart from the gun, they would have had also 3 Light machine Guns, and would have been manned by a garrison of 10 men.

Sure would have been a lonely place, manning this one!

This one protects the bridge and sits out on a lone Fenland road.

Is the third one a 28a as well, or a straight 28? Looks like a 28.

There's a couple of variant 28s locally I keep meaning to have a look at.

The third one is a standard 28 with no internal wall protecting the SMG slits. The first one has the internal wall and looks slightly longer as well.

Smiler, have you got a map reference for that structure? Looks quite small.

Thanks Smiler.. it has an ADS DOB entry, but there's no description or type given. Looks very tight inside.
