Found this while hunting for the Auxilary Operations base in Aldroughty Wood Elgin seems to have been a deep bunker I believe it may have been a ammo store or something as tanks were nearby and in these woods often dont think its the Aux ops base but still a find. Has had wooden posts at the side and a corrigated Iron roof at one point.
Sorry officer I'm stupid so please speak slowly
Pillboxes, Rye - Aug 09
Just a couple more pillboxes I found from last week.
This one backed onto someones garden and was used as there shed maybe.
And this second one was just filled with so much rubbish and the smell .
A Pillbox cleverly built into the quay at Instow Devon, sadly bricked up, another slit would have faced down the other side the the Torridge but thats also bricked up
Front
The best side to properly see it and understand what it was
The back, notice the bricked up entrance
Waiting for a war that never happened....

Pillbox, Cuckmere River - Aug 09
This is one I missed on my last visit.
I stopped off at this little pill box on my way to collect my kids for the weekend.
It's located at the Great Yarmouth end of the A47 and looks to be in very good condition considering it's location. There's another across the other side of the road, but that wasn't too easy to get to, plus it was being guarded by sheep!!!
Apologies for initially posting in the wrong place
Pillboxes, Shoreham Airport - Aug 09
Opened in 1911, Shoreham Airport (civilian) was requisitioned by the Air Ministry in June 1940 for use as an advanced airfield in the Tangmere Sector.
The airfield was defended by various pillboxes around its perimeter, and at least one Pickett-Hamilton Fort.
Please beware if you go and view these yourself, junkies use the pillboxes. I see several needles inside one of them.
Sorry there are so many images.
Royal Military Canal, Rye to Appledore - Aug 09
The Royal Military Canal is a canal running 28 miles between Seabrook near Folkstone and Cliff End near Hastings, following the old cliff line bordering Romney Marsh.
During the early stages of World War II, when German invasion was looking likely, the canal was fortified with concrete pillboxes.
This second pillbox doesnt lie on on the canal but over looks it from the hills. I had to access some farmland for this one and i hope im the first on the net with photos of this.
And this was the view from the box!.
And this last one is much the same as the first.
