Visited here with my platoon late last year.

Here i will show some pics from one of our old front lines and one of the many graveyards from the battle of The Somme in World War One.

Definatly a sobering experiance walking with our fallen brothers of battle.

We also visited Thiepval Memorial, 70,000 names cover the walls. all lost with no trace. Died in battle with no grave found.

Small poem.

Why are the Poppies so red, Mummy,
why are the Poppies so red?
Red is the colour of blood, my child, the blood that our soldiers shed.
The heart of the Poppy is black, Mummy,
why does it have to be black?
Black, my child, is a symbol of grief for the Men who never came back.
But why, Mummy, are you crying so?, your tears are giving you pain.
My tears are my fears for you, my child, for
the world is
FORGETTING AGAIN!

Here are some pictures from one of our old trench and fighting positions.
Sorry about the quality, a camera phone job.
