    Arrow Middlesex Hospital - 20 February 2007

Visited with Flat-4, Speed and the ever tardy Itinerant Child .

The reason for my second explore here was to see the fabled chapel. I had missed it on my earlier visit and this time all 4 of us wanted to see it above anything else. The way in was via the same place IC and I used back in December. The only difference now was that the building we had climbed into then had now been demolished so it was a case of hoofing it over the fence and then heading for the nearest available open building. IC really does know this place like the back of his hand and we quickly followed him down towards the basement to get some snaps of the morgue slab. When we got there it became apparent just how much demo work had taken place. The slab was now covered in rubble and there was evidence of further damage in the adjoining rooms and corridors. After a few snaps here, we headed off to the nuclear medicine labs to have a look there. Our next stop was the chapel. IC again leading and within no time we were climbing our way through windows to access the chapel.
Having seen the pictures of this place on previous reports I had some idea of what to expect but in all honesty I was quite amazed at what was here. It really was beautiful. The walls were adorned with history, plaques commemorating those who had worked at the hospital and those who had died here. It had taken the best part of 30 years to build this chapel and you could see why...the attention to detail was just superb. We spent quite a while in here snapping away before time took its toll and we had to bug out so that Flat-4 could catch his last train home. A great night explore and good company.
