Arrow Raf Hartland Point, Rotor/Radar Station, 29/07/09

Visited this with BK whilst on an exploration for a ship wreck!

Although all of the buildings of the original WW2 Rotor station are long gone, enough is still around to get an idea of the layout of the place

The site today is still used by the CAA, with there 150 ft high tower, with Golf Ball attached! The site is fully automated, although there are lots of signs around that still say it belongs to the MOD?

A full history of the place can be found here:
    http://www.subbrit.org.uk/rsg/sites/...int/index.html

Floor remains of the Technical Block.
Most of the buildings were demolished and thrown into the surrounding grass!

    Remains of Standby Generator/House.

The only underground remains we could find was this Air raid shelter hidden in the undergrowth. There are probably some more hidden in the long grass

Type 13 Radar at Hartland Point, Circa 1975.

The remains of the Concrete base's for the Type 13 Radar still in place

The active unmanned CAA, Golf Ball radar dome at the top of the cliff. The MOD pulled out in 1987, though there signage is still evident around the remaining peri fence.

These signs are left to keep 'Nosey people' out like me
