Arrow Bletchley Park - Derelict & Abandoned 13/9/09

Visited on Sunday with Bunkerkid, on the "Heritage Open Weekend".
Much of the original Bletchley Park has been dessimated over the last 2 years by a whole sale sell off, of a vast amount of the original grounds that the Park was in

2 years ago you, could really still appreciate the Park, and get the impression of what it was like in WW2.
Alas these days are long gone, and now modern housing spoils a once tranquil view
The original buildings that were put up were made of wood, and still stand to this day But still need a lot of work on them.

It was later in the war 1942/43, when the brick/concrete buildings were built to accomodate the ever increasing personnel needed to help crack the German codes.

Some of these buildings are not considered as worth preserving and were sold along with the land to builders, who in the not to distant future will knock them down to make way for yet more housing!
Its these that Me and BK investigated

One of the entrances to "G" Block - Traffic Analysis & Deception Operations!

Even BT, knew it as "G" Block when they later inhabited the building

Most of the buildings are boarded up, but over the years access is possible if you look

This building dates from about mid 1950's when the CAA were located at BP, training Air Traffic Control personnel. A radar deflector is still located on the roof

The Radar deflector gearing is still visible inside the building along with the heavy beams that held the control gear in place.

Each section had its own incinerator building where Secret & Confidential papers were burnt! This one still had the incinerator in with a lot of Ash and old newspapers dating back to 1992. Even BT used it, for its original purpose

Roof tops of the "B" Block, in a semi camo state
Italian Air & Naval.Japanese Code Breaking took place in this building.

And the man himself! immortalised in slate! - Alan Turing, the man who 'Cracked the Codes' looks over an Enigma machine

A lot of people say that
Mind you the guy might have been a genius! but his personal life got him into a lot of trouble!
His demise was a bit also abrupt!

In January 1952 Turing picked up 19-year-old Arnold Murray outside a cinema in Manchester. After a lunch date, Turing invited Murray to spend the weekend with him at his house, an invitation which Murray accepted although he did not show up. The pair met again in Manchester the following Monday, when Murray agreed to accompany Turing to the latter's house. A few weeks later Murray visited Turing's house again, and apparently spent the night there.

After Murray helped an accomplice to break into his house, Turing reported the crime to the police. During the investigation Turing acknowledged a sexual relationship with Murray. Homosexual acts were illegal in the United Kingdom at that time, and so both were charged with gross indecency under Section 11 of the Criminal Law Amendment Act 1885, the same crime that Oscar Wilde had been convicted of more than fifty years earlier.

Turing was given a choice between imprisonment or probation conditional on his agreement to undergo hormonal treatment designed to reduce libido. He accepted chemical castration via oestrogen hormone injections, which lasted for a year. One of the known side effects of these hormone injections was the development of breasts, something which plagued Turing for the rest of his life.

Turing's conviction led to the removal of his security clearance, and barred him from continuing with his cryptographic consultancy for GCHQ. At the time, there was acute public anxiety about spies and homosexual entrapment by Soviet agents, due to the recent exposure of the first two members of the Cambridge Five, Guy Burgess and Donald Maclean, as KGB double agents. Turing was never accused of espionage but, as with all who had worked at Bletchley Park, was prevented from discussing his war work.

On 8 June 1954, Turing's cleaner found him dead; he had died the previous day. A post-mortem examination established that the cause of death was cyanide poisoning. When his body was discovered an apple lay half-eaten beside his bed and although the apple was not tested for cyanide.
It is speculated that this was the means by which a fatal dose was delivered. An inquest determined that he had committed suicide, and he was cremated at Woking crematorium on 12 June 1954.

The above, description kinda fits the darker side of Turin's 'slate statue'
Don't go much on the Chemical castration, neither
