    Having seen Gartlochs wards and hall it was time to have look from the tower - here is the view

    I don't remember it either ... pretty sure it isn't a lightning conductor. You recall what I said about the state of the towers when we were up there though ... !?

    Nice one Skin - but it is a bit of a hair-raiser.

    Cool stuff skin! That banding does look more structural than a conductor.

    thanks folks - the strapping is indeed lightning conductor Im afraid - did note this visit that part of the roof of the main hall has collapsed at the western end
