Meeting with theoss and Sandman on what was probably the wettest day of the year so far, it was only right that we chose a site which was potentially just as wet indoors as it was outside, with torrents of rain streaming through the roof and down the walls.

The building itself is 1930s and comprises a main pool and a kiddie pool. And lots of lost property. Sandman found a pair of bikini bottoms with a big brown streak down the gusset. I gagged.

There's a lovely site with what the place used to look like at http://www.robbirrell.com/durhamcitybaths/. It doesn't look like that anymore.

The kiddie's pool has been turned into a meeting place for the local Brain Trust:

The local kids have emptied the entire contents of the offices and store cupboards into the pool.

Which was a good thing, because otherwise it would have taken ages to find THE RESCUSICI-ANNE FACE, a.k.a. the wrongest thing ever. (sorry SM had to steal your pic)

But it's still a nice little explore. Don't think the wet helped my embryonic cold, though. Stuck in bed with the lemsip now. Ho hum.
