HP (Heavenlyphoto) had been sniffing round some poor unsuspecting female in Chi one evening and spotted this, about which I have only found this:
GREEN LIGHT FOR CHICHESTER HIGH SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT
Press Release 11 February 2002
Information:
Chichester High School for Girls will soon be able to operate from one site following the signing of a contract with developers Woodbridge Edenside which will help to fund new accommodation on the Kingsham campus.
The sale of the school's Stockbridge site for leisure development has helped to provide the funding and the opportunity for the school to move into 21st century accommodation.
The £6.5 million contract will provide:
· 9 Science laboratories and supporting facilities
· 16 general teaching classrooms
· 7 design and technology rooms including food technology, textiles and ICT
· New administration block with staff-room
· Gymnasium and dance studio
· New library
Ballast Construction will undertake the building project. The total cost of the scheme is £6.5m which comes from the sale of the Stockbridge site, the County Council and a major contribution from the School's own resources.
The project is due to be completed in September 2003.
He and I went for a recce on Monday evening, and after about some blood (HP's hand and broken glass), sweat (neither of us is as fit as we were), and tears (I crushed my nuts on the windowcill), we were in. Wow, it's a beautiful late Victorian/early Edwardian building with a kinda Arts and Craftsy feel to it....... and mint!
HP went all camp about the light, which is probably why he took some very good pictures and I took some rather crap ones.
Like these:
The student canteen had been reused as an IT room, presumably after the school closed.
I'm not bald, it's the light
Beautiful galleried main hall/theatre thing
HP taking the photo AFTER this
I'm sure HP will not mind me borrowing this to illustrate.
