Hi, this was my first UE visit to the old Gledow Grove Mansion building. It was a good experience and can't wait to visit more places. It was in such a bad state, quite unbelievable really how a listed building like that could be left to get into that sort of a mess. Access was challenging and not for the faint hearted. Would have liked to venture further into the cellar but due to not having any masks and asbestos being everywhere we decided it was best to leave.

Gledhow Grove Mansion was built in the 1830's by John Clark and Chapel Allerton Hospital was built in its grounds. The hospital was founded in 1927, to care for war casualties from World War I. In 1953 the hospital was transferred to the Ministry of Health and developed as a general hospital. In 1975 when the new hospital was built, all but the mansion was demolished.
