Arrow Ffynnonau Duon No3, Licensed Mine 07

One of the small private levels on the edge of the South Wales Coalfeild operated up until 2003 it had a fairly complete set of topside buildings but they were demolished in late 2007 to back fill the mine adits as the owner was concerend that visitors mught be stupid enough to enter the mine which was known to have developed blackdamp not far from the surface after ventilation stopped, So i was glad i got to see it in time. I didnt go in with or without a canary.

it is not the most massive of explores but this kind of small private industry has its own charm, there are a few smaller little mines like this still about but unfortunatley the'll have to wait until i've got tranport again

Blackdamp (also known as stythe or choke damp) is a mixture of unbreathable gases formed when oxygen is removed from an enclosed atmosphere and largely replaced by nitrogen, argon, carbon dioxide and water vapour. The gas displaces oxygen in the air, lowering the available oxygen content to a level which is incapable of sustaining human or animal life; it is thus an asphyxiant. (wiki)

heaven forbid i should lecture anyone on what they can and cant do but old Coal mines are seriously dangerous, but I'll not do one theres just to many things to worry about, best off sticking to nice mineral mines and stone quarries.

You have some really excellent stuff in your "back catalogue". Well done for catching the surface works before they were bulldozed.
