Designated D2 Swingate, Heavy Anti-Aircraft Site Situated at Wanstone Farm. This site was paired with another four gun site a few hundred yards away, and was run as an eight gun battery. At the start of WW2 it was equipped with four 3.7" Mobile guns. Later upgraded to 5.25" fixed units.
Manned by 233 Battery, 75th Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA). Until the end of the Battle of Britain, and later by members of the Canadian 296th, 349th and 18th AA Regiments. It's arc of fire was limited by it's proximety to the Swingate Chain Home Pylons, but nevertheless is credited with many 'kills'.
