    Arrow Pyestock - April 2007

Well, this was m first ever explore and introduced me to the world of UE, 28dayslater and being busted by angry northerners...Thse photos are from a number of trips there, over the duration of about one month. I loved the place, and I still do, but won't be returning in the forseable future (although one final visit would be nice). I discovered this place whilst bored on my placement year, coincidently and without speaking to Flat4, he discovered UE in the same week.

Anyway, sod the history, here are the photos - the visit happened just before it blew up on the web, just like High Royds a year later.

    the first view I had

I still remember the feeling of navigating the herus fence, every sense suddenly picking up knowing you were somewhere you shouldn't be, and the smallest of noises causing you to stop, look and listen. I remember creeping forward with Flat4 and seeing this:

And thinking holy shit, this is even better in real life than looking at the photos....

We knew that Sahara had been recorded there, but we did not know where. So heading further into the site, we ducked through a door that was banging in the wind. It was a bit of a let down as we entered into an entirely empty office...heading to the corridor, we found our way to this, which everyone will recognise.

Moving on, we headed out of the building, a piece of metal banging in the wind causing us to take our time. Knowing that all the big arse blue pipes terminated within a central building, we headed for it and crept up a fire escape. Nothing could have prepared us for a hall filled with numerous turbines, or a corridor filled with only filters.

And the relay based control room..

This was the end of our first visit, it was a brief, but excellent one. But we returned within days to explore the site further, with still little sign of security. This time we headed to the right of the site, to the power station and yet another control room...

Yet another turbine, but this time, it tried to hide out of sight

Thse pictures barely show the extent of the site, most of which we covered, but at the same time, our n00bishness barely photographed...

    We also saw:
