Arrow Fan Hole Battery Shelter. Dover Dec 08

It was the deep air raid shelter for the three 6" gun emplacement at Fan Hole. Completed in Aug. 1941 for the four officers and 185 men of the 203rd Coast Battery RA who manned the site.

Here's a few of my photos.

    Cheers.
It's quite hard to find and in the middle of nowhere so it's un-chavved.

Looking back to the bottom of the stairs. There's about 130 of them in three flights, the first one is covered in mud so it's a bit like 'It's A Knockout' getting in and out.

    Sections of un-used lining.

    Another light.

A handy guide found in the tunnel.

Had to look twice at that guide...on first glance i saw what looked like snow capped mountains and the guides title of Kent!!! Never knew there were snow capped peaks in Kent!

Excellent spot and like you say, pretty unchavved which makes it all the better.

I posted that old WW2 aerial shot but forgot that I had this one where you can see the entrance and the magazines..

And a plan. I now it's oversized but the medium version is too small.

no probs mate. And the entrance is to the right of where the two paths cross, right of no1 gun.
I s'pose they're government photos, being aerial ww2 and all that.
