Air raid shelter, newhey, rochdale 05/10

I spotted this a good long time ago, but never really got round to giving it a closer look.

the location of, what i presume, is an air raid shelter. is on the site of the former haugh hey colliery in Newhey which is just out of rochdale.
its location seems a bit odd TBH and the colliery was well closed by the war so im not really 100% certain what it was there to serve.

it features 2 rooms and a short linking corridor at one end, but there is no evidence of anything else inside. its a bit of a mystery TBH, so any more info would be appreciated!!

Probably an explosive store for the colliery, can't see any evidence of seating

im not sure mate, it looks too new to be related to the colliery, and TBH the colliery was VERY small and worked by hand!! it only had 3 workers listed as working underground in 1896!!

It looks very similar from the outside to one in a park just outside Leeds. THe whole construction does look ww2 type. Is there anything on Defence of Britain database?
