Stumbled upon this whilst taking my younger son for a mooch round Blackley Brick Works. 3 mile from home and I never even knew this place existed.
So we parked up and decided to take a closer inspection. Well boarded up and was a bit of a squeeze to gain access. Inside is totally stripped, junk everywhere, and even the floor boards have gone. Worth the effort though as the hoist gear is rather cool.
The Mill was owned by Schofield & Smith worsted and fine cloth spinners. A large Victorian Mill complex in It's hey day. And this is what it looked like.
Planning permission was sought in 2006 to demolish the site for residential housing. 4yrs on and this is what you are greeted with.
Another piece of local history/heritage bites the dust. What is wrong with these people?
A couple more externals before we venture inside.
Here's some of the totally uninspiring floors! If Pink and Red floats yer boat then fill yer boots peeps.
The White Room.
I really liked the stairs though. It was difficult to photograph with the dark confined space. Didn't help with not using a tripod either.
A few bits 'n' bobs along the way.
Time to turn up the heat.
And the rather cool hoisting gear.
All in all a nice couple of hours in a Virgin Mill
Thanks for looking.
