Withcall Tunnel resides on the Long Abandoned Louth to Lincoln Branch Railway which was Opened in around 1876. The Tunnel is single Bore and 981 Yards long which to date is the Longest Disused Tunnel I have walked. Being a Yellow Belly myself this was a real Treat for me as I have long known about this Leviathan, but had not conquered it until now. The Construction was beset by problems from the start and excavation was halted several timed due to flooding, Lime Poisioning and a Stray Wagon that decided to Mash a Permanent Way Gangman. Withcall bisects a Chalk Hill deep in the Lincs Wolds, and is very wet with some Majestic Calcification and is in Remarkable order having seen a Train pass this way, right back in 1956.
